Regulated is not approved
Companies are responsible for ensuring their products are safe and labels are truthful. FDA oversight generally becomes more active after products are on the market.
Facility claims
“Made in an FDA-registered facility” or similar wording does not mean FDA evaluated or endorsed the finished supplement.
What labels must do
Supplement labels should provide serving size, servings per container, dietary ingredients and amounts. A label is necessary information, not proof that the claims are true.
What FDA can do
FDA can inspect facilities, review labeling, monitor adverse events and act against unsafe or misbranded products.
Spot the misleading badge
An “FDA Approved” graphic on an ordinary dietary supplement page is a serious credibility problem. Verify claims directly through FDA resources.
